Guest Alison Beal Posted November 14, 2015 at 01:27 AM Report Share Posted November 14, 2015 at 01:27 AM What are Roberts Rules about a board member asking for a non-scheduled executive session? Someone in my organization claims that it must be voted on, whereas my understanding is that if a member asks for the session to go in camera, it is immediate. OR, if at the beginning of a meeting a member asks for an in camera agenda item it cannot be refused. Thank you

Hieu H. Huynh Posted November 14, 2015 at 02:34 AM Report Share Posted November 14, 2015 at 02:34 AM "A meeting enters into executive session only when required by rule or established custom, or upon the adoption of a motion to do so. A motion to go into executive session is a question of privilege ([section] 19), and therefore is adopted by a majority vote."
