During a recent board meeting of our community association 2 board members left their post, walked out of the meeting in a huff, tempers and emotions were running high. Can this be contructed as abandoning their positions on the board?

Is there a proper procedure for leaving a board meeting?

There is no rule in RONR that says a member cannot walk out of a meeting or that it is considered abandoning their post if they do. If you want to push the issue see FAQ #20.

Is there a proper procedure for leaving a board meeting?

1) Stand up.

2) Start walking towards the door.

3) When you reach the door open it if closed.

4) Walk through the door.

5) If the door was closed before, close it again.

"You can leave in a taxi. If you can't get a taxi, you can leave in a huff. If that's too soon, you can leave in a minute-and-a-huff." --Groucho
