Guest karen Posted February 7, 2011 at 04:27 PM Report Share Posted February 7, 2011 at 04:27 PM can a "notice of information" be utilized to afford an opportunity to provide additional information at a future meeting for a motion made in a previous meeting? Chris Harrison Posted February 7, 2011 at 04:36 PM Report Share Posted February 7, 2011 at 04:36 PM can a "notice of information" be utilized to afford an opportunity to provide additional information at a future meeting for a motion made in a previous meeting? There is no such creature as a "notice of information" under RONR. Can you clarify what you mean by that?

Chris Harrison Posted February 7, 2011 at 06:32 PM Report Share Posted February 7, 2011 at 06:32 PM I was looking for confirmation that there is no "notice of information" A board member is wanting to provide additional information to an issue that has already been decided and moved on at a previous meeting.Well, what the Board member can do if the motion was adopted and has not been fully executed is to move to Rescind/Amend Something Previously Adopted (RONR pp. 293-299) and in debate the added info can be presented. However, if the motion was adopted in a meeting of the General Membership the motion to R/ASPA can only be introduced in a General Membership meeting. If the motion was adopted in a Board meeting the motion to R/ASPA can be introduced in a Board meeting or a General Membership meeting (where the Board's action can be countermanded). If the motion was defeated it can be renewed at any session (for most bodies a session is the same as a meeting). See RONR, 10th ed., pg. 379, lines 31-36; pg. 381, lines 1-6.
