General Membership Removing Director

Can the general membership remove the director, is that possible.

See FAQ 20 elsewhere on this website.

If the general membership calls for a meeting according to the bylaws and the director refuses to meet, what can the general membership do?

Hold the meeting without the director. Under RONR, the absence of any particular officer can not prevent the membership from holding a properly called meeting. If your director is normally the chair of your meetings, then the secretary (or any other member if the secretary is absent) calls the meeting to order and then presides over the election of a chair pro tem for that meeting.

we want the director thier, can the director refuse to attend the meeting if the general membership has questions, and the director doesn't want to answer them?

Well ultimately, he can, but I doubt that would be a wise career move for him. You can't force him to attend the meeting, but there might be consequences for the director.

Is the director an employee? An officer? Who appoints/elects the director? Do your Bylaws have anything to say about this?

Board members are appointed by the general membership and the board of directors vote the director in. Currently the board is only the Director, team parent coordinator, field Manager and sgt at arms. That is the entire board since 6 board member resigned. The Director is breaking all the bylaws and we just don't know how to remove him.

Read your bylaws and Chapter XX of RONR. If you need additional help, contact either AIP or NAP to find a parliamentarian in your area who can help you.
