Gary Novosielski Posted February 22, 2011 at 06:08 PM Report Share Posted February 22, 2011 at 06:08 PM Are the Officers & Board members required to recommend a member to fill a vacant board position when a member has a very small number of votes as a write in on election ballots? No. You have to keep voting until you fill each required position by a majority vote. If someone has less than a majority, they are simply not elected. But they might be elected on the next, or subsequent, ballot. Until then, your election is still incomplete. Guest Elle Posted February 22, 2011 at 06:44 PM Report Share Posted February 22, 2011 at 06:44 PM Our Bylaws state: In the event of a vacancy or vacancies of an Officer and/or Director should occur by reason of resignation or otherwise stated, the Officers and Board members will nominate or recommend a Club member for the vacancy for a majority vote of members present at the next Member Meeting. If it is the majority vote of the Officers and Board Directors to recommend another member to the members at the next Member Meeting for a majority vote will this be the way it should be done? Rev Ed Posted February 22, 2011 at 07:12 PM Report Share Posted February 22, 2011 at 07:12 PM Yes - the Board may pass a motion (requiring a majority vote) to recommend a person to fill the term. The membership will also have to elect someone by a majority vote - either the person recommended by the Board, or another person.
