Is it necessary to have a motion to adjourn a meeting?

Under certain circumstances, a meeting can be adjourned without a motion:

  • When the complete order of business has been gone through and no one seeks to introduce another topic; or,
  • When the hour for adjournment previously set by rule, agenda, or motion has arrived; or,
  • When fire, riot, or other, similar situation presenting an immanent public danger requires an immediate adjournment
