Guest Mich Posted April 20, 2011 at 02:06 PM Report Share Posted April 20, 2011 at 02:06 PM If a new member wants to join, a consultant on staff, does she have the rights to vote. Our Bylaws indicate they are not allowed to vote or require membership on committees, unless appointed by the President of the Medical Staff President. I was under the assumption from reading somewhere on the RONR that the only members with rights to vote were Active staff members on the Medical Staff or Committee? George Mervosh Posted April 20, 2011 at 02:12 PM Report Share Posted April 20, 2011 at 02:12 PM You won't see any such thing in Robert's Rules.......here's what RONR says - "A member of an assembly, in the parliamentary sense, as mentioned above, is a person having the right to full participation in its proceedings - that is, as explained in Section 3 and Section 4, the right to make motions, to speak in debate on them, and to vote. Some organized societies define different classes of "membership," not all of which may include this status." RONR, p. 3The last sentence seems to apply to your group and RONR makes no attempt whatsoever to interpret what rights these other classes might have.
