Guest Trienere Posted April 25, 2011 at 07:20 PM Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 at 07:20 PM Where in Roberts does it state that with the consent of an executive board that a President cannot cancel a meeting? In addition, the President called the membership to apprise them of the cancellation due to another event that most of the members were going. Robert B Fish Posted April 25, 2011 at 08:54 PM Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 at 08:54 PM See RONR (10th ed.), p. 432, ll. 10-12.A reasonable "workaround" does exist, however. The president could issue a notice saying that, due to the other event, he/she and the executive board feel that the meeting should be postponed. In order to follow procedures, they will have two persons show up in the appointed place and appointed time and move to set the time to which to adjourn (call an adjourned meeting), stating the time and place of the adjourned meeting.Note that if a quorum were to show up for the meeting anyhow, they could conduct business.-Bob

And how did he get the consent of the executive board if the executive board didn't meet? Or are we talking about two different meetings?
Josh Martin Posted April 26, 2011 at 04:04 PM Report Share Posted April 26, 2011 at 04:04 PM Or are we talking about two different meetings?I suspect that the meeting the President and Executive Board attempted to cancel was a meeting of the general membership.
