Guest Linda Posted May 16, 2011 at 08:15 PM Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 at 08:15 PM The President and Vice-President of a club have resigned. Does the rule about the Secretary (or whoever is available) calling the next meeting to order to appoint a temporary chair of the meeting apply in this case. Can this person preside over the meetings until a new President is found according to the club's by-laws about replacing executive members. And it needn't be the same person for each meeting. In fact, the "term of office" ends when the meeting is adjourned.

It's only for one meeting at a time.As a result, the secretary should call the meeting to order and conduct a brief election for chairman pro tem at the start of each individual meeting until a new president is selected. The chairman pro tem does not have the other duties or rights granted to the president in the bylaws.
