Chris Harrison Posted September 12, 2011 at 01:02 PM Report Share Posted September 12, 2011 at 01:02 PM When there are write-in candidates on a ballot, how are they factored into the vote? The same as if the person's name had been pre-written on the ballot. Should another ballot be created which includes their names and another election held? No.
David A Foulkes Posted September 12, 2011 at 01:02 PM Report Share Posted September 12, 2011 at 01:02 PM When there are write-in candidates on a ballot, how are they factored into the vote?Should another ballot be created which includes their names and another election held?Um.... there wouldn't be write-in candidates on a (pre-printed) ballot typically, since by definition their names get written in (on the ballot) at the time of voting. How are they factored into the vote? Their votes are counted like any other candidate whose name is on the ballot, or who was nominated at the election meeting. Why do you think they would be separated out and possibly considered in a separate election?
