Guest Susan Posted November 22, 2011 at 10:19 AM Report Share Posted November 22, 2011 at 10:19 AM Prior to being sworn in is it appropriate for a mayor-elect and the council-elects to meet for an informal meet and greet without municipal staff present? Is this considered a meeting?

Rev Ed Posted November 22, 2011 at 04:54 PM Report Share Posted November 22, 2011 at 04:54 PM And unless the laws dealing with cities in your state/province, or the city's own rules, require city staff to be present, the lack of city staff being present would not make a meeting null and void. While it may be a good idea for staff to attend the meeting, if there is no rule that staff must be present, if they are not also members of council they would have no rights to attend.
