can a comander of a VFW post kick someone out for life without a trial

No, unless the Bylaws give the commander that authority.

The Post Commander does not have that right and must comply with the disciplinary procedures outlined in Article IX of the By-Laws of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. . The national procedures are very specific and it applies to all posts in the VFW.

The discussion of the Bylaws of a particular organization is beyond the scope of RONR and this forum.
