Chris Harrison Posted November 29, 2011 at 11:46 PM Report Share Posted November 29, 2011 at 11:46 PM RONR doesn't define an "exception clause" so what it means is for you all to determine.
Josh Martin Posted November 30, 2011 at 04:28 AM Report Share Posted November 30, 2011 at 04:28 AM Please explain an exception clause to by-laws? Is an exception clause required a board to recommend an exception to a by-law and to take a vote on it?RONR doesn't talk about an "exception clause." The only thing I can think of is a rule in the Bylaws providing for its own suspension (which is the only way an assembly can suspend a rule in the Bylaws not in the nature of a rule of order). (RONR, 11th ed., pg. 263, lines 1-7) If that's not it, I don't know what you're talking about.
J. J. Posted November 30, 2011 at 04:33 AM Report Share Posted November 30, 2011 at 04:33 AM I could see several, i.e., "all officers, except the treasurer, shall have been members of the society for at least two years prior to their election or appointment."
