Guest Liz Posted December 9, 2011 at 01:23 AM Report Share Posted December 9, 2011 at 01:23 AM I actually meant can the president of an association be the chairperson of a committee within the association. I don't know if that makes a difference.
Guest Steve Britton Posted December 9, 2011 at 01:23 AM Report Share Posted December 9, 2011 at 01:23 AM Can the president of an association also be the president of a committee within that association?Normally the "president" of a committee is refered to as the "chairman." There is nothing in the RONR preventing a president from chairing a committee, but bylaws sometimes prohit them from serving on specific committees, like a nominating committee. Rev Ed Posted December 9, 2011 at 04:31 AM Report Share Posted December 9, 2011 at 04:31 AM Perfectly okay. Although in a number of organizations the President is an ex-officio member of all Committees (except the Nominating Committee.)RONR's only "restriction" when it comes to Board members (and specifically the President) on Committees is with regards to the Nominating Committee. Rev Ed Posted December 9, 2011 at 03:13 PM Report Share Posted December 9, 2011 at 03:13 PM That's why I put the quotations around the word restriction. It is a suggestion, but the only real one with regards to this issue.
