Invalid Motion

A motion was made to purchase a full-page ad in souvenir journal for $450.00. After the motion was voted on and passed. The Chairman was notified that there was not a $450,00 ad to purchase.

The maker of the motion was ask to amend the motion to state the correct price of $160.00 for a full-page ad. Maker refused stating the motion was for $450.00 and it passed and it is the judiciary responsibility of the Chair to honor the motion.

The motion was made with erroneous information. At the next Business meeting, how should this motion be rectified?

Of course, if the intent of the assembly was to purchase an ad for a cost of up to $50, then the motion should have stated something like this: "That the organization purchases a full page ad in the ___ publication for a cost of up to $450." This would have allowed for the purchase of the $160 ad.

Now you have to use a motion to amend something previously adopted.
