Guest Sherri Posted April 28, 2012 at 02:54 AM Report Share Posted April 28, 2012 at 02:54 AM We have a member who is calling the general membership and asking for a feedback letter on all of our coaches. She is not introducing herself as a member just stating that we would like feedback on our coaches. We have no idea how she obtained the memberships #'s, it could be from the phone book. But the fact that she is calling the members and requesting this letter to be sent to the club secretary does not seem appropriate. Chris Harrison Posted April 28, 2012 at 03:01 AM Report Share Posted April 28, 2012 at 03:01 AM Nothing in RONR prohibits nor attaches any impropriety to what she is doing. Of course the assembly is free to adopt a rule putting limits on how members can use Membership contact information (or the members contacted could simply refuse to supply the requested information). Guest Edgar Posted April 28, 2012 at 03:06 AM Report Share Posted April 28, 2012 at 03:06 AM She is not introducing herself as a member just stating that we would like feedback on our coaches. If she is claiming to represent the organization (when she doesn't), that fact should be made clear to the members and, if the organization wishes, disciplinary actions can be brought against her.The organization could, for example, send a letter to the members saying something like, "It has come to our attention that someone is distributing a questionnaire that purports to come from The Club. It does not." Or words to that effect. As noted, this is beyond the scope of RONR (which primarily deals with how to conduct meetings).
Guest Guest Posted April 28, 2012 at 03:07 AM Report Share Posted April 28, 2012 at 03:07 AM But she is not stating who she is and the fact that some of the board have been calling the membership to ask for nominees for board and chair positions. The members that she calls could just assume she is a board member as she is not stating either way. Just stating that "we" want the feedback letter sent to the board secretary. We, the actual board don't want the feedback letter, we did not ask for it.

Rev Ed Posted April 28, 2012 at 03:42 PM Report Share Posted April 28, 2012 at 03:42 PM Also, why don't you want feedbacK? While this lady should not be acting the way she did, unless there is a rule against this RONR does not disallow communication outside a meeting. However, if the organization feels it appropriate, it can discipline the member.
