Guest Susan Posted May 7, 2012 at 04:13 PM Report Share Posted May 7, 2012 at 04:13 PM By Law amendment was postponed to next meeting. How is it handled at the next meeting? Do I call for a motion and second to start discussion/vote or do I annouce it was moved and seconded at the previous meeting and move right to discussion? Thanks for guidance. George Mervosh Posted May 7, 2012 at 04:17 PM Report Share Posted May 7, 2012 at 04:17 PM If you follow the Standard Order of Business in Robert's Rules, the chair will announce it as pending under the heading General Orders and you can pick it back up from there. Please note if it next meeting you refered to is in excess of a quarterly time interval from the previous meeting, that postponement is improper and the proposed amendment is dead and you must start anew with proposing it. Guest Guest Posted May 7, 2012 at 04:39 PM Report Share Posted May 7, 2012 at 04:39 PM Thanks - by "pick it back up" what do you mean? As chair, do I ask for a motion and second as though it's coming up for the first time? The time between meetings would be about a month.
