Chris Harrison Posted May 10, 2012 at 03:46 AM Report Share Posted May 10, 2012 at 03:46 AM Rather than using some term which people may not understand (thus them then coming here to ask and since RONR doesn't have such a term we would have to advise them to ask the organization what it means ) why not just state clearly that they have no obligation to attend and they don't count towards the quorum? Guest Edgar Posted May 10, 2012 at 12:25 PM Report Share Posted May 10, 2012 at 12:25 PM What term should be used in by-laws for a committee member not required to attend meetings? No member is "required" to attend meetings (in the sense that there is no automatic penalty if they don't). Could you be more specific about why you'd want to make someone a member of a committee and yet not expect him to attend its meetings? Is it that you just want to give him the right to attend but indicate that he's under no obligation to do so? The term for that would be . . . member.
