Guest Herb Miller Posted May 14, 2012 at 12:42 AM Report Share Posted May 14, 2012 at 12:42 AM A committee made up of board members brings a motion to the full board. What is the proper way to amend their motion? Do all the committee members have to agree to the amendment for it to be accepted for vote?
jstackpo Posted May 14, 2012 at 01:32 AM Report Share Posted May 14, 2012 at 01:32 AM Once the motion has been made before the full board, it "belongs" to the board. Members of the board can offer amendments just as if the motion had been made by a board member. The sub-committee, as such, has no special standing - they are all board members and can vote as they see fit on the motion.
Gary Novosielski Posted May 18, 2012 at 02:17 AM Report Share Posted May 18, 2012 at 02:17 AM - they are all board members and can vote as they see fit on the motion. And even if they weren't board members, once they report back their recommendation (in the form of a motion) it's up to the board to adopt it, amend it, or even reject it completely.
