rlecats Posted May 14, 2012 at 11:29 PM Report Share Posted May 14, 2012 at 11:29 PM At an annual society conference, is there particular wording the president should use to declare the presence of a quorum after the credentials report has been adopted? I thought it was in RONR but now can't find it.Also- the president wants to announce the "voting strength" after declaring quorum. What is "voting strength"? Is it the same as "total number entitled to vote"? I'm not finding answers on Google nor seeing any in RONR.Thank you!
Chris Harrison Posted May 14, 2012 at 11:40 PM Report Share Posted May 14, 2012 at 11:40 PM It is not necessary for the Chair to announce that a quorum is present though he should make sure there is one before calling the meeting to order (RONR pp. 348-349). RONR doesn't doesn't define the term "voting strength" and I am not even sure that it even uses the term (I don't have the CD and don't particularly want to read the 700+ pages right now looking for it ).
