Guest Kris E Posted May 19, 2012 at 12:58 AM Report Share Posted May 19, 2012 at 12:58 AM The treasurer was elected for a 2 year term, and on the second year, they ran for Vice president. They were elected. This left one year left in their treasurer term to be replaced. They were replaced. The maximum terms a officer can hold in that office is 2 terms. Is the replacement treasurer considered to have been in office for the 2 terms after their 3 rd year is complete? They were treasurer for two different terms. One full 2 year term and one "replacement" term. Are we thinking correctly or does this treasurer get 4 years? Do we need to have an election for the last year? (RONR 11th Ed., p.448 ll.13-16) So, was the "replacement" term more than half the original term?
jstackpo Posted May 19, 2012 at 01:10 AM Report Share Posted May 19, 2012 at 01:10 AM If the "replacement treasurer" served less than 1/2 of the full treasurer's term, then that partial term does NOT count toward any term limits: p. 575, lines 2-5.He could then serve two full terms (if re-elected, of course) after his stint filling the vacancy has ended.
