Chris Harrison Posted June 12, 2012 at 12:18 PM Report Share Posted June 12, 2012 at 12:18 PM what are the duties of the treasurer They are what the bylaws say they are.we are having a problem with the president taking over everything Then don't let him. He only has the authority that the bylaws or you collectively give him and if he tries going beyond that then put the brakes on for him.
Rev Ed Posted June 12, 2012 at 03:41 PM Report Share Posted June 12, 2012 at 03:41 PM The dutires of the Treasurer are whatever the By-laws state they are. But in general it is to collect and deposit membership dues, make sure bills are paid, create monthly/quarterly and yearly financial statements - passing along the Annual Financial Statements to the Auditor/Auditing Committee, etc. The Treasurer can also prepare cheques to be signed, if someone has to counter sign them. The President cannot do the functions of the Treasurer, especially the duties found in the By-laws. If the Treasurer is slacking in his/her duties then the Treasurer should be disciplined. Otherwise, the President should be told not to overstep his/her duties.
