Voting Procedure

Our church has no specified voting procedures in the by-laws. Would it be improper to make a proposal or a motion and delay the vote to a specified time? This would allow the members time to thoughtfully consider the motion before voting.

It would probably be acceptable, so long as the postponement is not beyond the quarterly time interval and to a different session (see pp. 88. 90).

The pending motion can be Postponed to a Certain Time. See RONR (11th ed,), Section 14.
