Guest Colleen Posted July 14, 2012 at 10:57 AM Report Share Posted July 14, 2012 at 10:57 AM Our secretary cannot be at our annual meeting. can another board member be assigned by the president to take minutes or how do we need to correctly get an alternate? jstackpo Posted July 14, 2012 at 11:18 AM Report Share Posted July 14, 2012 at 11:18 AM RONR's rule (p. 459) is that a Secretary pro tem is elected to take the minutes. He doesn't have to be a board member. But an "assignment" by the chair, as long as there is no objection from the membership -- be sure to ask! -- will do just fine. Rev Ed Posted July 14, 2012 at 09:31 PM Report Share Posted July 14, 2012 at 09:31 PM In one organization I belong to, we normally bring in a "professional" to handle the Minutes - however, the Chairman still has to ask permission - and the majority rules.
