Chris Harrison Posted August 22, 2012 at 01:50 AM Report Share Posted August 22, 2012 at 01:50 AM Unless you have a vacancy filling provision specifically for the office of President the VP automatically becomes President when there is a vacancy in the Presidency. However, who says the President isn't still eligible to serve as President next week? Do the bylaws actually state this?
Rev Ed Posted August 22, 2012 at 03:05 PM Report Share Posted August 22, 2012 at 03:05 PM Chris I am thinking the same thing, why is the President suddenly not the President? Unless working in the school district is a requirement to hold office, then there is no reason why the President is still not the President.Although the Vice President automatically becomes the President if there is a vacancy in the office of President unless the By-laws specifically states otherwise. David A Foulkes Posted August 22, 2012 at 10:20 PM Report Share Posted August 22, 2012 at 10:20 PM And assuming the President must vacate the office due to some rule in place,(still waiting on that answer), and that you have a 2nd VP (otherwise why have a 1st VP?), then when the 1st VP does become President, the 2nd VP becomes the 1st VP (do you have a 3rd VP?) and the vacancy then occurs in the 2nd VP's office.
