Guest Dennis Posted August 27, 2012 at 08:35 PM Report Share Posted August 27, 2012 at 08:35 PM Our president has called a special meeting of the total organization to make a decision on a financial matter. Because of the importance of the issue, she wants to permit members to participate via teleconference. Our bylaws are silent on teleconferencing. Bruce Lages Posted August 27, 2012 at 09:06 PM Report Share Posted August 27, 2012 at 09:06 PM I'll assume your question is whether it is permissible for your members to participate via teleconference. If your bylaws don't authorize it, no, it is not permissible under any circumstances (unless a local, state, or federal law requires it).

It prohibits the practice unless your bylaws allow it. Apparently they don't, so what the president wants doesn't make any difference.
