David A Foulkes Posted September 11, 2012 at 11:03 AM Report Share Posted September 11, 2012 at 11:03 AM What is a tellers report? The people who pass out and collect the election ballots, and then go into the corner and count them, are called Tellers. They record (typically on paper) the number of votes cast for candidate A, candidate B, Mickey Mouse, George Washington, and the ever-popular "none of 'em". They then read these numbers (the Tellers' Report) aloud at the meeting after voting is complete. The head teller (taking time off from her job at the bank) hands this Tellers' Report to the Chair, who again reads it and declares candidate B the winner. The ever-dutiful secretary records all this in her notes to be included in the draft minutes for approval at the next meeting. If you want to call that public, feel free. Weldon Merritt Posted September 11, 2012 at 03:54 PM Report Share Posted September 11, 2012 at 03:54 PM Why wouldn't someone want this public?M It's usually a misquided attempt to spare the feelings of the losers. John Stackpole has an excellent list of reeasons why that is a bad idea. Maybe he will be along to post it shortly.
