Guest Doc Posted October 16, 2012 at 07:36 PM Report Share Posted October 16, 2012 at 07:36 PM The by-laws of a national organization state that the President of the organization shall preside at the business meeting held at the national convention of the organization. At the most recent business meeting of that organization the parliamentarian (a PNP) retained by the organization actually chaired the business meeting. Was this appropriate or ethical for her to do so?? If not, what can be done about it?
George Mervosh Posted October 16, 2012 at 07:39 PM Report Share Posted October 16, 2012 at 07:39 PM If the assembly permitted it, it's perfectly fine. The rule in your bylaws that the President presides at the business meeting is suspendable by a 2/3 vote or unanimous consent.
