Guest Edgar Posted December 5, 2012 at 02:57 PM Report Share Posted December 5, 2012 at 02:57 PM A motion was may and seconed and the the chair tabled it. How does the motion get raised again?Chances are it wasn't "tabled" at all. See if FAQs #12 and #13 are helpful.
Tim Wynn Posted December 5, 2012 at 03:39 PM Report Share Posted December 5, 2012 at 03:39 PM A motion was may and seconed and the the chair tabled it. How does the motion get raised again?DonHowever the motion was disposed of, it was done by the assembly, perhaps through silence, not by the chair. If the motion is on the table, it can be taken from the table by a motion to do so, which can be made by any member and requires a majority vote.Next time the chair tries to lay a motion on the table, raise a point of order or at least ask where he gets the authority to do so. How does the motion get raised again?DonThe chair has no power to "table" anything. That takes a majority vote. You could have raised a point of order, at the time.
