Guest sam c. Posted June 10, 2014 at 06:19 PM Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 at 06:19 PM I am asking if there is a difference between a "Commission" and a "Committee". Does a "Commission" rank higher in a government hierachy than a "Committee"? Is a "Commissioner" given higher status than a "Committee" member? I am working on writing a charter for an Airport Commission and a charter for a Parks Committee.
Gary Novosielski Posted June 10, 2014 at 06:24 PM Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 at 06:24 PM I don't believe the answer to your question can be found within the pages of RONR.
jstackpo Posted June 10, 2014 at 07:36 PM Report Share Posted June 10, 2014 at 07:36 PM There may be a distinction, or hierarchy, of names for groups of people with tasks to do (Committee, Working Group, Council, Task Force, Panel, Service Team, Focus Group, Commission, Blue Ribbon [fill the blank], and various churchly named groups - session, consistory, vestry, &c) in the gumment, but not in RONR. Can you think of any more names? Nothing but plain ol' committees (Standing and Special) (plus Boards) in RONR.
