Edgar Guest Posted March 4, 2015 at 11:43 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2015 at 11:43 PM As far as RONR is concerned, a defeated motion can be made again ("renewed") as if it had never been made. But I suspect your "legislation" is subject to other rules.
Josh Martin Posted March 5, 2015 at 12:49 AM Report Share Posted March 5, 2015 at 12:49 AM After a piece of legislation has been denied by the body through a vote, what is required to reintroduce the legislation? At the same meeting (or a meeting on the next business day in a session of multiple days, such as a convention), a motion to Reconsider is required, which takes a majority vote for adoption. At a later meeting, any member can simply make the motion again. Does this differ if it is amendments to the constitution or by-laws of the body in question? Any previous notice which the constitution or bylaws require for such amendments must be given again.
