Guest sherry_grabill Posted March 7, 2015 at 07:20 PM Report Share Posted March 7, 2015 at 07:20 PM If the Chairman of a committee, appointed by the president of the association, resigns, does the President need to select a replacement for the Chairman from the original committee or someone outside the committee? jstackpo Posted March 7, 2015 at 07:32 PM Report Share Posted March 7, 2015 at 07:32 PM Presuming your rules have no "in-house" replacement rule, RONR would say appoint anybody. Even one of us! (p. 492, with the permission of the assembly, for non-members.)
Gary Novosielski Posted March 9, 2015 at 06:08 PM Report Share Posted March 9, 2015 at 06:08 PM If the Chairman of a committee, appointed by the president of the association, resigns, does the President need to select a replacement for the Chairman from the original committee or someone outside the committee? Since the president apparently has the power to appoint, the president can also appoint a replacement chairman. This could be someone from outside the committee, or it could be someone already on the committee. If the latter is the case, he might also appoint a new committee member (non-chair) to bring the number up to what it was.
