Guest Anne Hamilton Posted March 8, 2015 at 06:28 PM Report Share Posted March 8, 2015 at 06:28 PM Our organization is about to adopt our proposed Chapter Bylaws. All members have received a copy. Does it take a 2/3 vote af all the members to adopt our bylaws with pervious notice, or a majority of all the members with pervious notice? Hieu H. Huynh Posted March 8, 2015 at 06:50 PM Report Share Posted March 8, 2015 at 06:50 PM Are these bylaws the initial set establishing your chapter or are they amending previously adopted bylaws? The adoption of the bylaws through which a society is brought into being requires only a majority vote. (RONR 11th ed., p. 559, ll. 23-24) If the bylaws contain no provision for their amendment, they can be amended by a two-thirds vote if previous notice (in the sense defined on p. 121) has been given, or they can be amended by the vote of a majority of the entire membership.
