Josh Martin Posted October 20, 2015 at 01:58 PM Report Share Posted October 20, 2015 at 01:58 PM Good morning,I am looking for a little insight as to how to formally charge a union rep. He is being charge with insubordination the union president has sent an e-mail telling me to have a herring with out an formal charges. How do I go about the proceedings.I strongly suspect that a union has its own rules for discipline, and if so, you should review those rules. If not, see Ch. XX of RONR. The formal disciplinary procedures in RONR are far too lengthy to describe here, but I will note that formal charges are required.
Transpower Posted October 20, 2015 at 10:56 PM Report Share Posted October 20, 2015 at 10:56 PM I think it's reasonable to attempt an informal discussion with the union rep first. RONR (11th ed.), p. 644, ll. 8-10: "Formal disciplinary procedures should generally be regarded as a drastic step reserved for serious situations or those potentially so."
