Election to multiple positions

if a candidate for a board position comes out of nominations for a board position  of an organization and this same person is nominated from the floor for the business manager officer position without objection,if this person wins both positions and elects in writing to take the board position he was elected to ,can he later change his mind and take the business manager officer position instead  or is an election necessary because this person;s change of mind is in fact a resignation from the board position?

If this person is elected to two positions and declines one of the positions, there would be another election for the declined position. If someone else is elected, it would be too late to have a change of mind and accept the other position.
