Now that it is pending, it was properly postponed to the next quarterly meeting. Before the next meeting, the originator of the motion has decided to not use the unfinished business motion and he will be using a newly prepared motion. What is the best technique to use to scrap the postponed motion and activate the new motion?

Before the next meeting, the originator of the motion has decided to not use the unfinished business motion and he will be using a newly prepared motion. What is the best technique to use to scrap the postponed motion and activate the new motion? It's actually a general order, not unfinished business, but no matter, at the next meeting, when the motion once again is pending, the original maker of the motion may request permission to withdraw it. If someone objects to that request a vote is taken and a majority vote decides the matter.
