Andy Travis Posted July 10, 2016 at 04:21 PM Report Share Posted July 10, 2016 at 04:21 PM On page 355 in RONR it references distribution of draft minutes to members. My question is, is there a rule in RONR that addresses circulation of draft minutes to non-members?
Bruce Lages Posted July 10, 2016 at 04:24 PM Report Share Posted July 10, 2016 at 04:24 PM There is no such rule in RONR. Why would you want to circulate draft minutes to non-members?
Andy Travis Posted July 10, 2016 at 04:29 PM Author Report Share Posted July 10, 2016 at 04:29 PM I as the secretary do not want draft minutes circulated but our property management company has been circulating them. Since the management company takes direction from the board is it perfectly acceptable to tell them to stop?
Bruce Lages Posted July 10, 2016 at 06:37 PM Report Share Posted July 10, 2016 at 06:37 PM Assuming no higher-level rules that say otherwise, the board can control the distribution of its own minutes. But who are these non-members you refer to? This sounds like an HOA, in which case the members of the HOA (the property owners), at an HOA general meeting, could move to have the board minutes read (RONR, 11th ed.,p.487, ll.13-20).
