Tony Posted March 28, 2017 at 12:38 PM Report Share Posted March 28, 2017 at 12:38 PM Hello all I am an instructor at a technology center, and I have a team of high school students competing in Chapter Business Procedure this year. This is my first year coaching this team and I have little to no experience when it comes to parliamentary procedure. We have qualified for the state level, however at regionals, some mistakes that the team made were pointed out. These were due to our lack of experience with the contest. One of these brings me to my question, in the contest the team is given an agenda, previous minutes, and a treasurer's report. Apparently it is part of the contest to have a mistake in the treasurer's report and the team has handle this mistake in the meeting. I cannot find the procedure to due this, can someone give me some advice, or at least point me in the right direction in Robert's Rules of Order? Thank you. George Mervosh Posted March 28, 2017 at 01:00 PM Report Share Posted March 28, 2017 at 01:00 PM Since the report of the treasurer is not adopted by the assembly under the rules in RONR, you wouldn't handle it as an amendment. I think a member raising a Request for Information to the chair could ask - "Was the check you issued for the electric bill $2,500. or $250. ?" or "Is the disbursement for ________ really correct?" The presiding officer can direct the treasurer to answer the question and the treasurer can then proceed to answer the question and state that he will correct the error.
