Guest Jackson Colby Posted May 29, 2018 at 03:02 AM Report Share Posted May 29, 2018 at 03:02 AM I am part of a non-profit organization which is run by a set of by-laws. We recently elected a new President to the board. The President is in a relationship (life partners) with the Chairman of the board. There is nothing in our bylaws stating it cannot happen but many fear with the two of them leading our organizations they can easily influence others. Our bylaws do state no member of the organization can profit off of the actions of our organization for personal benefit. Is there anything, in RROO, regarding personal relationships between two individuals on a board? I am not finding anything and would like to know if there is any information I can reference as we prepare to transition to a new board. J. J. Posted May 29, 2018 at 04:15 AM Report Share Posted May 29, 2018 at 04:15 AM It violates no rule in RONR.
Gary Novosielski Posted May 29, 2018 at 02:56 PM Report Share Posted May 29, 2018 at 02:56 PM No, there is no such rule in RONR. And presuming that the voters knew of this relationship before electing this person, we can deduce that they did not see it as enough of a problem to vote for someone else.
