Guest Sam Posted November 28, 2018 at 05:02 PM Report Share Posted November 28, 2018 at 05:02 PM We are having a difference of opinion on the order of Adjournment and Executive Session on an agenda. Does Adjournment come first, since the meeting must officially adjourn before going into Executive Session?
jstackpo Posted November 28, 2018 at 05:11 PM Report Share Posted November 28, 2018 at 05:11 PM Better that your title were "Order of Business" not "Order of Agenda", but no need to bother about that now. Going into Executive Session (p. 95) does NOT require that the meeting be first adjourned. Indeed just the opposite: an "Executive Session" can be just a portion of a meeting during which the proceedings are to be kept secret. It can take place at any time during a meeting. Joshua Katz Posted November 28, 2018 at 05:11 PM Report Share Posted November 28, 2018 at 05:11 PM No. Executive Session is something that happens during a meeting (if the assembly chooses to enter one).

Once the meeting is adjourned, it has ended, and no more business can be done, therefore no motion to go into Executive Session can be made.
