Guest Manuel Gomez Posted August 27, 2022 at 11:02 PM Report Share Posted August 27, 2022 at 11:02 PM If a voting member yields their time to a guest during public comment and the yielding member is still allowed to speak later in the commenting time, is that grounds for disqualifiying a vote that takes place later in the meeting? Weldon Merritt Posted August 27, 2022 at 11:18 PM Report Share Posted August 27, 2022 at 11:18 PM No! Why on earth would you think that it might be? So far as RONR is concerned, a member cannot yield his or her time to another member in the first place. (It is conceivable that your rules do, but I'd be surprised.) But if it happens anyway, and no one raises a Point of Order, it's not a continuing breach and carries no consequences.

Good Grief, No! But unless you have some special provision in your rules, members are not permitted to "yield time" to others. When they yield the floor, they're finished speaking.
