Recommendations of Committee

Just as a matter of curiosity, a platform of planks is analogous to a convention's rules. Each plank is independent and freestanding in the same way that each rule is independent and freestanding.

It is most common for a convention's rules to be voted on in gross. It is just as appropriate for a platform to be voted on in gross. Nevertheless, in both cases, a single member can demand a separate vote on one or more of the elements, planks or rules; and, the convention is obligated, without respect to the convention's judgment as to the advisability of the demand.
