Guest Anonymous Aardvark Posted October 20, 2023 at 05:05 AM Report Share Posted October 20, 2023 at 05:05 AM The president, who is the chair of the meeting and is required to step down for a motion that presents conflict of interest, who shall be chair in their stead? What is the process of selecting a chair? Would it be the vice president? Or a member of the committee. This is not defined in our bylaws. Is this defined in Roberts Rules? Could you point me to the right section/page? I have a copy of the 12th edition at the office. Had trouble finding it the other day. Hi Bruce, thank you for this. A follow up question if I may. Does the duty of chair automatically fall on the first vice-president listed in the bylaws? Can this be changed in the case of another vice-president volunteering, or the order must be followed? In my particular case, the second vice-president (whom is on a leave of absence) has emailed the committee stating they will be joining the meeting to act as chair in stead of the president. Is this allowed per Roberts Rules? Or is it not defined? Thanks again,
Gary Novosielski Posted October 20, 2023 at 06:49 PM Report Share Posted October 20, 2023 at 06:49 PM This is in order if the first vice president consents. Otherwise it will require a two-thirds vote.
