Guest Anon Posted November 23, 2023 at 09:51 PM Report Share Posted November 23, 2023 at 09:51 PM If a board wants to hear a presentation from a guest nonmember, do they need to vote? All I can find in the book mentions that debate would require suspending the rules, but this isn't debate with a motion but more like a report for information. Rob Elsman Posted November 23, 2023 at 11:28 PM Report Share Posted November 23, 2023 at 11:28 PM Often, an invitation is extended informally by general consent. In the less frequent case, the board can extend the invitation by majority vote.
Gary Novosielski Posted November 23, 2023 at 11:32 PM Report Share Posted November 23, 2023 at 11:32 PM If the presentation is not in the nature of debate, it does not require suspending any rules, so a majority vote would be sufficient, but if no objection is expected it could be handled by unanimous consent: See
