Guest Mandy Posted January 14, 2024 at 03:41 PM Report Share Posted January 14, 2024 at 03:41 PM should a board member’s spouse be permitted to serve on a main committee such as treasurer or nominating? Is this a conflict of interest?
Joshua Katz Posted January 14, 2024 at 03:43 PM Report Share Posted January 14, 2024 at 03:43 PM In RONR, the closest thing to a conflict of interest is the statement that one who has a personal or pecuniary interest in a matter not in common with the others should abstain, but can not be forced to do so. There is nothing about spouses holding positions. So per RONR, there is no such rule. Any rule prohibiting it would need to be made by your organization.
