Guest Kayla Posted March 5, 2024 at 02:46 PM Report Share Posted March 5, 2024 at 02:46 PM When the board votes on and item and it passes. Is the board able to act on that vote or does the minutes need to be approved to be able to act on it?
Gary Novosielski Posted March 5, 2024 at 04:34 PM Report Share Posted March 5, 2024 at 04:34 PM Presuming the ordinary case where the motion did not contain a proviso specifying a future effective date, it would take effect immediately upon adoption. Approval of minutes does not constitute approval of the motion; that happened when the motion was adopted. Approval of minutes only confirms that the minutes accurately record what happened. It is not an opportunity to bite the apple a second time.
Joshua Katz Posted March 6, 2024 at 03:02 AM Report Share Posted March 6, 2024 at 03:02 AM Note that, if acting on a motion depended on approving the minutes, it would be quite difficult to adjourn and go home.
