hmtcastle Posted May 25, 2010 at 12:59 PM Report Share Posted May 25, 2010 at 12:59 PM For what purposes may an executive session be called? For any purpose or no purpose at all. It's entirely up to the assembly. But note that it's the meeting that is "called". Then the meeting, or just a portion thereof, can be held "in executive session".Note, too, that special (or "called") meetings must be authorized by the bylaws or they can not be held. And that only the business specified in the notice (the "call") of the meeting can be considered.

Kim Goldsworthy Posted May 25, 2010 at 02:46 PM Report Share Posted May 25, 2010 at 02:46 PM The Book tells us that there are some organizations (the "lodge system") which meet 100% of the time in executive session. For such organizations, there is no "go into"/"exit" of executive session because they are always "in".
