Contracts

Can a PTA sign a contract for a fundraiser a year in advance? The company is Booster-thon, they are taking bookings a year in advance and require a contract signed and a payment.

Are you asking if there is a time limit?

Like, if it is okay to sign a contract for a month in advance, but perhaps a rule prevents a year in advance?

There are no time limits like that in Robert's Rules of Order.

Whether the rules of one's PTA say otherwise, is up to you to decipher.

Whether the signer has authority to sign, is likewise up to you to enforce.

Perhaps your concern is that you are making a decision now that next year's PTA officers/members will be stuck with? Nothing inherently wrong with that according to RONR -- changes in the membership of the assembly don't invalidate or undo earlier motions passed by the assembly. Check your own rules to see if you run into any problems with the timeframe.
