Board Nominations

At a General Assembly meeting of our church, we failed to get seven people to run for the Board of Trustees. What do we do now?

Well, you have already missed the boat. The election should not have been abandoned. Balloting should have been repeated as many times as necessary--even without any nominees, if necessary--until all the seats on the board were filled.

Remember, the election of Pope Gregory X took over two years of repeated balloting, and only a few of the electors actually died. mellow.gif

Should we assume you were holding elections, not just nominations?

If the former, it seems you have an incomplete election and need to get back to it, either by having a special election, or perhaps at your next regular meeting, if it will be held within a quarterly interval. In the meantime, depending on how the term of office is defined in your bylaws, some of the officers may still be in office if their successors were not elected.
