David A Foulkes Posted October 21, 2010 at 01:00 AM Report Share Posted October 21, 2010 at 01:00 AM does the memer making a motion or seconding it have to vote aye for the motion?Nope, but the member making the motion is not allowed to speak against it in debate. Otherwise, you get to vote how you wish.

(RONR 10th ed. 2000)REFRAINING FROM SPEAKING AGAINST ONE’SOWN MOTION. In debate, the maker of a motion, while he can vote against it, is not allowed to speak againsthis own motion. He need not speak at all, but if he does heis obliged to take a favorable position. If he changes hismind while the motion he made is pending, he can, in ef-fect advise the assembly of this by asking permission towithdraw the motion (pp. 283-86).
